Thomaston, CT, November 21, 2017 – Stewart EFI, LLC is pleased to announce that Stewart EFI Connecticut, LLC located in Thomaston, CT recently announced it has achieved upgrade certification to the automotive industry’s new quality standard, IATF 16949: 2016 in addition to recertification under the ISO 9001: 2015 Quality Standard. 

The Stewart EFI Connecticut LLC joins Stewart EFI Finishing LLC, located in El Paso, TX of the parent company Stewart EFI, LLC to obtain this certification.  Both were previously certified to the technical specification ISO/TS 61949: 2009. In 2016, the IATF (International Automotive Task Group) announced an upgrade to their technical specification. The revised IATF standard replaces the ISO/TS 16949 technical specification.  All automotive suppliers are required to upgrade their Quality Management Systems and achieve certification to IATF 16949 by September of 2018. 

IATF 16949:2016 certification specifies the quality system requirements for products and services for the automotive industry. In addition, individual subscribing vehicle manufacturers have customer-specific requirements.
